Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 12, 2026

Pagio ("the App") is designed to respect your privacy. We believe your reading habits are personal, and our data handling reflects that. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is stored, and your rights regarding that data.

Data Collection

Pagio collects only the data you explicitly enter into the App ("User Data"), including:

  • Books and authors

  • Reading sessions, progress, and streaks

  • Notes, highlights, and related metadata

No Accounts Required

Pagio does not require you to create a proprietary account. We do not collect your email address, phone number, or personal identifiers.

Analytics Data

We may collect limited, anonymous, aggregated data on app crashes and feature usage through Apple's built-in analytics and any other privacy-focused analytics services we may use. This data is collected automatically and cannot be used to identify you personally. We do not collect any user-sensitive data, including the content you enter into the App, such as book titles, notes, or reading progress. Analytics data is used solely to understand general app usage patterns and improve the App's stability and performance.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process data on the following legal grounds under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Contract performance — Processing your User Data (books, reading sessions, notes, etc.) is necessary to provide you with the core functionality of the App.

  • Legitimate interest — We may use anonymous, aggregated analytics data to improve the App's stability and performance. This data cannot identify you personally.

Storage & Sync

All data you create in Pagio is stored in your personal iCloud container using Apple's CloudKit technology.

  • Ownership: Your data belongs to you.

  • Access: The Developer of Pagio does not have access to your iCloud data. We cannot read, view, or sell your reading logs.

  • Sync: Data is synced between your devices automatically via Apple's services.

  • Security: Data is encrypted and handled according to Apple's standard platform security policies.

No Proprietary Servers

We do not operate external servers to store your personal reading data.

Third-Party Services

  • Apple CloudKit: Used for data storage and sync within your personal iCloud container. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

  • Apple Analytics and other analytics services: We may use Apple's built-in app analytics and other privacy-focused analytics services to collect anonymous, aggregated data on app crashes and feature usage. This data is processed in a manner that cannot be linked to you personally.

  • No Ad Tracking: Pagio does not display advertisements, does not use tracking pixels, and does not sell your data to third parties.

All third-party services used by the App are required to provide protections of user data consistent with or exceeding those described in this Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

Local Data

Deleting the Pagio app from your device will remove the locally stored data immediately.

Cloud Data

Because your data is stored in iCloud, you retain full control over it. You can delete your data by:

  1. Deleting specific items within the App.

  2. Deleting the App's cloud data via your iOS System Settings (Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage).

App Discontinuation

In the event that Pagio is discontinued, your data will remain in your personal iCloud container and will not be affected. You will continue to be able to manage or delete it through your iOS System Settings as described above.

International Data Transfers

Your data is stored in your personal iCloud container using Apple's CloudKit technology. Apple may process and store this data on servers located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Apple employs appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, including compliance with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. For more information on Apple's data transfer practices, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy at apple.com/privacy.

Your Rights Under GDPR

As a user in the European Economic Area (or wherever GDPR applies), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — You may request confirmation of whether we process your data and obtain a copy of it.

  • Right to rectification — You may correct inaccurate data directly within the App.

  • Right to erasure — You may delete your data at any time through the App or your iCloud settings.

  • Right to restriction of processing — You may request that we limit how your data is processed.

  • Right to data portability — You may request your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.

  • Right to object — You may object to the processing of your data based on legitimate interest.

Because Pagio stores all User Data in your personal iCloud container and we have no access to it, most of these rights are exercised directly by you on your own device and iCloud account. If you need further assistance exercising any of these rights, please contact us at support@pagio.cc.

If you believe that your data protection rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are located in Poland, the relevant authority is the Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych (UODO), ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, Poland (uodo.gov.pl).

Children's Privacy

The App is rated 4+ on the App Store and is not specifically targeted at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, and we do not request or verify the age of our users. Because the App does not collect personal identifiers and all User Data is stored locally and in the user's personal iCloud container, the App's functionality and data handling remain the same for all users regardless of age.

Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the App and updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us through the support feature within the App, or reach out to us via email at support@pagio.cc.
