The Basics

What is Pagio?
A reading diary for iPhone and iPad. You keep the books you read, time your reading, and save quotes and notes with the page they came from. Pagio doesn’t hold the books themselves, so read wherever you like: on paper, on an e-reader or in your ears.
Do I need an account?
No. There’s nothing to sign up for. Your library syncs through the iCloud account already on your iPhone or iPad.
Is there an Android version?
Not at the moment. Pagio is made for iPhone and iPad, on iOS 18 or later, and it runs on a Mac with Apple silicon too.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Logging a session, updating your page and browsing your library all work without a connection, and everything syncs once you’re back online. Searching for new books and loading their covers need the internet.

Free and Premium

Is it free?
Yes. Everyone gets every feature, with no ads. The free plan holds up to 20 books, and Premium, monthly or yearly, removes the limit.
What happens to my books if Premium ends?
Nothing is deleted. You can still read, log sessions and edit every book you have. Adding new ones waits until you renew or your library is back under the free limit.
Can I share Premium with my family?
Not at the moment. Premium isn’t part of Family Sharing, so each Apple Account needs its own.
How do I cancel?
Apple handles subscriptions, so cancel in the Settings app: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Pagio. Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds go through Apple too, as the Terms of Use explain.

Adding Books

How do I add a book?
Search by title, author or ISBN, or scan the barcode on the back cover. Pagio fills in the cover, the author, the page count and the rest, and you can change any of it.
My book isn’t in the search. Can I still add it?
Yes. Add it by hand with just a title, then fill in whatever else you know. You can take a photo of the cover too.
How do I move my library from Goodreads?
On goodreads.com, open My Books, then Import and Export, and tap Export Library. In Pagio, open Settings, tap Import Books, then Goodreads, and pick the file. Your shelves, ratings, reviews and the dates you read come along.
How does the Kindle import work?
You sign in on Amazon’s own page inside Pagio, and Pagio reads the list of books in your Kindle library. It never sees your password. Books arrive as planned, since Kindle doesn’t share how far you’ve read.
Can I import from a spreadsheet or another app?
Yes, from any CSV file with a title column. Pagio recognizes common column names and asks about the rest. Bookshelf has its own import that keeps your collections too.
Do imported books count toward the free limit?
Yes, like any other book. On the free plan you pick which ones to bring over, up to the limit.
Can I export my library?
Not yet, but it’s coming soon. Your library already syncs through your own iCloud, so it’s never stuck on one device.

Reading

Do I have to time every session?
No. You can log a session after the fact, fill in a gap, or just say what page you’re on. The timer is there when you want it.
Can I track ebooks and audiobooks?
Yes. Every book is Paper, Digital or Audio. Audiobooks are logged by time instead of pages, so you follow where you are in the recording.
Can I see the timer without opening the app?
Yes. A running session shows on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island and on your Apple Watch. Widgets can start or pause a session too.
I’m rereading a book. What happens to the first read?
It stays. Tap Reread and Pagio starts a new read of the same book, keeping the earlier one with its own dates and sessions.
What if I stop reading a book halfway?
Mark it abandoned. It keeps its sessions and leaves your current reads, and you can pick it up again whenever you like.

Goals and Streaks

How does the streak work?
Each day you log some reading adds a day to your streak. Miss one day and it holds. It ends only when you skip two days in a row.
What kinds of goals can I set?
Books, pages, hours or reading days, for a month, a year or dates you choose. Pagio shows whether you’re ahead or behind as you go.
Can Pagio remind me to read?
If you’d like. There are daily reminders, a nudge before your streak breaks, and a note when a goal starts or ends. They’re all off until you turn them on.

Quotes and Notes

Can I save quotes with their page?
Yes. Each quote and note keeps its page, and all of them live together in Quotes & Notes, ready to search, favorite or share as a card.
Why is there no social feed?
Because reading isn’t a performance. What you read stays yours, unless you choose to share a card: a month of reading, a book you’ve finished, or a quote.

Sync and Devices

Does it sync between my iPhone and iPad?
Yes, through your own iCloud. Start a book on one and pick it up on the other.
I got a new iPhone. How do I get everything back?
Sign in with the same Apple Account and install Pagio. Your library returns from iCloud on its own. For Premium, open Settings in Pagio, tap Pagio Premium, then Restore Subscription.
Pagio says my iCloud storage is full. What now?
Your library is safe on this device, but new changes can’t reach your other devices until there’s room. Free up some iCloud space and Pagio catches up by itself.
Which widgets are there?
For the Home Screen and the Lock Screen: the book you’re reading, with buttons to start or pause a session, your goal and the pace it needs, your streak, and a month of reading as a calendar.

Privacy and Your Data

Can you see what I read?
No. There’s no server of ours holding your library. Book searches go through our lookup service, but your library stays on your device and in your own iCloud.
What does Pagio collect?
Anonymous usage data and crash reports, tied to a random identifier rather than your name or Apple Account. They never include your books, notes or quotes. The Privacy Policy has the details.
How do I delete everything?
Delete your books in Pagio, and each one is removed from iCloud and your other devices too. Deleting the app alone isn’t enough: your library stays in your iCloud and comes back when you reinstall.
What if Pagio goes away?
The app keeps working, and your library stays in your own iCloud. Only finding new books and their covers needs our servers.
